Tips to Organizing a Small Pantry to Maximize Space

Lucky, our home was blessed with a large walk-in pantry.
However, I have received many questions from readers asking for advice on organizing a small pantry. Here are my top 5 tips for making the most of your small pantry.

1. Transfer all of your items into clear containers. This will allow you to see what you have so you won't buy double which will take up extra pantry space.

2. Hang a shoe organizer on the back of your pantry door. Store snacks, drink mixes or other small items in it. Not only will this free up space on your shelves but it will keep small items from getting lost in the back of the pantry.

3. Install a Lazy Susan in the corner of your pantry. Lazy Susan's are great for keeping items within reach. They also keep items from getting buried in those dark corners.

4. Pin your baggies to the wall with push pins. You may remember this photo from my post about 50 Insanely Clever Organizing Tips & Trick. What a brilliant idea. Not only does it make you baggies easily accessible but it also frees up some much needed shelf space.

5. Use a pantry inventory sheet to keep track of what you have. This free printable pantry inventory from my Ultimate Life Planning System makes it easy to keep track of the items in your pantry. Before you go shopping you can just look at the list to find out what you are out of and it will also keep you from buying something that you already have.

What is your biggest problem area when it comes to staying organized? The kitchen? Garage? Maybe the never ending piles of paperwork? Let me know in the comment section below.
